OWOF New and Noteworthy:
GSMWLP is pleased to announce that Mary Swenson, Miss Minnesota International 2011, will be a special guest at this year’s Our World, Our Family. Mary is using her title to reach a larger audience by traveling the state of Minnesota promoting her platform, “From Bullied to Beauty Queen: Building Unshakeable Self-Esteem.” Mary is excited to share her message with girls and adults at this year’s OWOF event.
While registration for Our World, Our Family closed on June 15, there is limited space for those who would like to attend during the day on Saturday. The Saturday fee is $40 plus $2 per person late fee. To get the latest updates, please contact the Bemidji Girl Scout office or tandrews@gslakesandpines.org.

Our World, Our Family
Can you imagine what an entire generation of girls will do with the confidence, skills and
experience they need to lead?
Girl Scouts was founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low. She was a true trailblazer and her
visionary leadership created a strong foundation for the organization we have become as
we celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting.
Our World, Our Family began 25 years ago as an event for girls to build relationships, try
new activities, and celebrate the tradition of Girl Scouting. This event encourages girls to explore outside of their home community and their comfort zone. In collaboration with local volunteers, girls participate in over 100 sessions that offer everything from archery to eco-art and kick-boxing to a writer’s workshop.
The 25th annual Our World, Our Family Girl Scouting event will take place September 9-11, 2011, in Nisswa, Minnesota, and is the kickoff for our year-long Centennial Celebration of Girl Scouts.
We ask you to partner with Girl Scouts to bring this innovative and experiential leadership development event to the girls and families in our shared service communities. Together we will serve nearly 1,000 Girl Scouts throughout Greater Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin by providing reasonable registration costs to families and offering scholarships to those who need assistance.
An investment in Girl Scouts is a commitment to developing young women who lead with courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place.
