About Girl Scout Cookies

The Girl Scouts Cookie program is the largest girl-led business in the country and generates over $700 million for girls and communities nationwide.

Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program girls develop five essential skills:
  • Goal setting
  • Decision making
  • Money management
  • People skills
  • Business ethics

All of the cookie revenue goes right back into the community you purchased the cookies from.  Girls use funds to support program activities and the rest is used to recruit and train troop leaders, fund camps and activity sites, and sponsor special events and projects.

To see the product line or view ingredient information, visit our baker, ABC Bakers: www.abcsmartcookies.com or contact Carol Weis, cweis@gslakesandpines.org.

Are purchases of Girl Scout Cookies tax deductible?

According to the Internal Revenue Service and Girl Scouts of the USA, there are two possiblities:

1. Customers accept cookies: If individuals buy cookies for personal consumption, they have purchased a product at a a fair market value.  For this reason, no part of the price of a package of Girl Scout Cookies is tax deductible.

2. Customers leave cookies with the Girl Scouts: Those customers who do not receive any Girl Scout Cookies, but purchase a package for the Cookie Share Program, do not benefit directly from paying for the cookies.  These individuals may treat the purchase prices as a charitable contribution as the Girl Scout will donate these cookies to a charity of the her choice.

Order from January-March

Starting January 15, girls will begin taking orders for Girl Scout Cookies which will be delivered in March.

Because the Girl Scouts Cookie Program is a girl-led business, there are several ways you can support a girl's leadership development by purchasing cookies from her.  Girls may:
  • Come to your door
  • Make a proposal to your business
  • Host a booth sale at a local business (beginning in March)
  • Send e-mails to friends and family (using www.abcsmartcookies.com, a safe and secure web site)
  • Make a posting to Facebook (girls younger than 13+ may use their parents' page)
Want to make sure you get your favorite cookies this year?  Complete the form below and send in to the Girl Scout office.

One final note ....
This is the last year for Daisy Go Rounds.  If you love that cookie, you may want to stock up.  That means next year we'll have a new cookie in the lineup.

Don't know a Girl Scout?  Contact us and we'll help you find cookies.
