Bemidji:  Girl Scouts is hosting Kaleidoscope, a conference and recognition event open to Girl Scouts and all girls in grades 2-adult. Participants choose a variety of activities focused on helping them strengthen their relationships with others. Sessions options range from archery to doll making to self defense.  Evening entertainment will include performances by Minneapolis based singer and songwriter Ann Reed and a celebration message from adventurer, author and photographer Mary Shideler of Grand Rapids. Troop 192 will be facilitating a 2014 Girl Scout Thinking Day Event on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 10:30 until 12:30 at the Bemidji Middle School.  

 

The event is open it up to all girls in the area.   Girls will learn about Egypt, Benin, Bangladesh and Armenia, do a fun craft project and share a lunch together.  Girls may come individually or as a troop.  

 

The cost of the event is $10 for registrations received by February 14th and $15 for registrations received after the 14th.  Troop 192 will take registrations at the door.  The registration and payment details can be found here.

The University of Minnesota Duluth Women's Hockey Team is proud to welcome area Girl Scouts to be part of the 4th Annual "Girl Scout Day with the Bulldogs" as they host the University of North Dakota on Sunday, February 9, 2014 in Duluth. In conjunction with the event, UMD will also celebrate the 28th Annual "National Girls and Women in Sports Day" at the game. All Girl Scouts, family members, and friends are invited to attend this special event and experience the fun and excitement of women's college hockey!

UMD is offering discount tickets for all Girl Scouts and their guests when purchased in advance. All Girl Scouts and fans ages 12 & under will receive FREE tickets. Girl Scouts and fans ages 13 & older will receive discounted $4 tickets. Discount tickets must be purchased and paid for in advance by ordering online athttps://umdbulldogs.d.umn.edu/cart/index by Thursday, February 6, 4:00pm. Orders will be held at will call and available on game day at the AMSOIL Arena Will Call ticket window between 1:30pm and game time.

If discount tickets are not ordered by February 6, full price $12 tickets will be available for purchase at AMSOIL Arena on game-day. For additional ticket information, contact the UMD Athletic Ticket Office at (218) 726-8595.

Girl Scout troops in attendance will receive a special welcome on the AMSOIL Arena videoboard and a troop photo opportunity with UMD's mascot, Champ at the start of the 3rd period. Please bring your own camera. The first 100 Girl Scouts in attendance will also receive a free team schedule poster! Don't forget to wear you uniforms!

Harlem Globetrotters Come to Minnesota

Girls who registered this fall to attend Lakes and Pines events were entered into a drawing for tickets to upcoming Harlem Globetrotters games in Bemidji, Duluth, St. Cloud and Morris.  The lucky winners were Destiny B and Jordyn C, Bemidji; Rachel H and Skye B, Cold Spring; Allie D, St. Cloud; Mariah H, Superior; Nina J, Duluth; Katilyn J, Becker; Jameela D, Sauk Rapids; Samantha M, Milaca, and Camilla D, Big Lake. The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes | Nomination deadline: April 15, 2014

Each year the Barron Prize honors 25 inspiring young people across the United States who have made a significant positive difference to people and our planet.  The top ten winners each receive a $5,000 cash award to support their service work or higher education.  Submission are accepted beginning January 2 to April 15, 2014 for heroic actions that have taken place since April 15, 2013.  While all young people ages 8 to 18 are eligible, we especially encourage Girl Scouts who have undertaken meaningful Take Action projects to apply.  For more information or for nomination instructions, visit www.barronprize.org.

Snowflake Adventures

Do you love winter adventures & camp?

Join Girl Scouts as we go outside and explore winter adventures at Camp Shingobee Timbers.  Try your hand at winter sports including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sliding and depending on the weather ice skating!  We will spend most of our time outside but will have time to create a wintery craft and Minnesota sweet treat!  All participants sleep in a heated dormitory style four season program center! Girl Scouts can sign up for this program with a friend who is new to Girl Scouts—each girl will get a $5 discount off the program cost!

Place: Camp Shingobee Timbers, Walker, MN

Grades: 2-8 Overnight Program; K-8 Day Program

Overnight Program: Feb 8 – 9, 2014 9am Saturday – 11am Sunday
